The Bible, Jesus is clear. You can not do both! You cannot serve God and the devil, self, others.. Paul made it absolutely clear why he refused his right to accept pay for preaching, to give us an example to follow!
NIV 2 Thess 3;7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example . We were not idle when we were with you 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow.
So whats the big deal? Paul gives us some other simple clear advice. We are warned not to follow leaders who refuse to follow Paul’s example. These leaders are really enemies of the cross
NLT Phil 3;17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. 18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.
There’s tons of other passages that confirm that virtually all of America’s churches are following leaders who are enemies of the cross and are headed for destruction.

Firstly a true church does not need a tax exempt benefit to be in business..
I know I pastored a church for a few years, and in the last 50 years I have encountered too many many mostly bad pastors, and 70 percent of evangelical pastors have admitted they had committed adultery and they even do counsel divorce for a start. The false misappropriation of funds in many churches in north America is so common so I had rightfully asked even the US government to investigate all of the churches- Pentecostal, Catholic, Baptist for their possible misappropriation of funds equally, annually in fact too.
For a start most churches ask you to the, give ten percent of your income to the church, but tithing is also an old testament concept and not enforceable in the new testament. In the old testament the tithers, and those who received the tithers had to insure that 1/7 of the donations were given to the local poor people. So I asked any church that advocated tithe that they prove as well they have kept this Biblical requirements, for almost none do it for it start. On top of that any clergy receiving tithing in the old testament was not allowed to own any real estate , tangible property too. If you are going to preach the law here on tithing too, then you yourself should observe all of it, not just mostly steal the tithe.
The first essential Social action and firstly as defined by the New Testament Books of acts in the appointment of deacons was, and still is the helping the poor and needy persons in the local Church. This was also true even in the old testament where 1/7 of the tithe was given to the local poor persons.
(Acts 6:1 KJV) And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration (Gal 2:10 KJV) Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

I ran a home church for about 2 dozen poor persons for years, and I fed them every week freely too, and I never asked ANYONE FOR MONEY, never took one offering too, God supplied all I needed too.
Secondly a true Christian Ministry starts as as a Faith Ministry, trusting in God to supply all of the needs and not rather being weak in the faith, starting a tax exempt and a marketing Corporation, even selling Books, tapes, video and things, begging, begging, begging OTHERS FOR MONEY.. with posts like like this.. ” I have incorporated as a nonprofit under the name “Athanatos Christian Ministries, Inc.” This is a pretty hefty step for me. It takes what has been a full time hobby and gives it legs to maybe be a full time full time endeavor into the future. Ultimately, the goal is for ACM to be self-sufficient, paying for itself off of book sales and products sold to churches, etc. At this time, however, donations are helpful. Some people who donate the money also do try to influence what can and cannot be preached too and do tie the hands of God here.

The proper Christian Example- “No More Rich Seat/Poor Seat . George became the pastor of a small church in England. The church wanted to pay him a good salary from the money it received renting pews to rich church members who sat at the front of the church. (Poor members had to sit in the “cheap” seats in the back.) George told them that this had to stop if they wanted him to be their pastor. Even so, he did not allow the church to pay him a salary. He trusted God to meet his needs, and God did. George and his family never missed a meal and were always able to pay their rent. George began to sense, however, that God had something else for him to do. Praying Food into the Home. Each day as George walked the streets, he saw children everywhere who had no mom or dad. They lived on the streets or in state-run poorhouses, where they were treated badly. George felt God calling him to open an orphanage to take care of the children. George prayed, asking God to provide a building, people to oversee it, furniture, and money for food and clothing. God answered his prayers. The needs of the orphanage were met each day. Sometimes a wealthy person would send a large amount of money, or a child would give a small amount received as a gift or for doing chores. Many times food, supplies or money came at the last minute, but God always provided without George telling anyone about his needs. He just prayed and waited on God.. More than 10,000 children lived in the orphanage over the years. When each child became old enough to live on his own, George would pray with him and put a Bible in his right hand and a coin in his left. He explained to the young person that if he held onto what was in his right hand, God would always make sure there was something in his left hand as well.
It seems these days Pastors, cops, politicians, Ministers tend to be still next equally all bad if left on their own, unsupervised? It has been very interesting to me that some of the biggest alcoholics and false proponents of ALCOHOL now are Ministers themselves.. and what else do they do? tax evasions, adultery, divorce, slander, gossip, no wonder in my own real personal experiences the last 5 decades too that 70 percent of the pastors are ungodly, immoral still and undeniably very few people respect them anymore for what they do and say. Luke 6:43 KJV) For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
And Jesus never sold one Sermon of his, nor the Apostles… so I rightfully cannot stand those greedy, money lusting charlatans who clearly try to make money by selling Christian literature, tapes, music, or what ever on the subject of Prophecy, healing, etc., .. and no matter what their excuses are now too.. Jesus said as you have freely received so freely give. And that is what I have done the last 4 decades too… and so should we all, trusting in the Faith for God to supply our needs, not begging for money, or wrongfully stealing by pretending to be a non profitable tax exempt corporation, organization basically so not to pay taxes as well.. How greedy can you get and pretend it to be Christian now too is the game many wrongfully play too even pastors….
What you can do : Personally Complain in writing
As most anyone should know Good, spiritual elders are an essential back bone of any church.. sadly I have too often also have encountered immoral, pretentious, unqualified elders in Brethren, Baptist and Pentecostal churches.
So what do you do with the bad ones, yes pretenders, imposters, the liars, and the playboy magazine reading elders I have often encountered too.
Well I simply expose them to all, I tell the truth as to what they are like, in writing.. for somehow unless it is in writing most people tend not to believe you or to act upon it.

(Rev 3:19 KJV) As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
and who inspired me firstly to do this..
The head elder Jesus Christ himself who uses the same technique, and Apostle Paul now too, and do you think that unrepentant persons personal sins were mentioned accidently in the Bible?
I was also actually inspired to do this by 2 different good elders I had encountered when I was a teen, who did not put up with dishonest, immoral persons in the church but rather rebuked them clearly and often before all too now.
I was specifically thinking yesterday that false preachers do not talk about sins..
so what do you do about bad Church elders? Tell them and next if need be tell everyone the truth about them!
Now there is another common scam I do not like, groups, churches who often choose a valid cause, since the best way to catch fish, suckers is with live bait, and then do next do ask for related donations, money.. this advertised cause tends to be rather an inefficient self employment creation, and is not a real public services.. for to get most complaints, issues handled properly all you do generally have to do is to post it firstly on the net, and also write to the News media with copies to the elected officials
