They are not going to heaven..

A too typically It still seems a pair of professing self righteous Christians had made a chance encounter  with a Pentecostal Pastor on the street, and instead of praising the Lord together , enjoying the benefits of their Christian heritage,  this  Christian pair started immediately to deliberately mock  the Pentecostal pastor for his beliefs, and started to dispute   their doctrinal differences with him,  and it all made me to wonder where was their real love? So where was their real practice of brotherly love and Christian Hospitality? for it did not exist in their case, and so how could they now even profess to be Christians as well?

(John 15:19 KJV)  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

(John 15:23 KJV)  He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

(1 John 2:9 KJV)  He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

(1 John 2:11 KJV)  But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

(1 John 3:15 KJV)  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

(1 John 4:20 KJV)  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

(1 Tim 5:8 KJV)  But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

I have been shocked too often when I go to Liberal Christian churches to see manifestations of open Rivalry, Jealous, Bitterness, and even hatred amongst the attendees, even in the same family now too and it makes me think why these same people now wrongfully do think they will even make it, are going to heaven next..

Here is something else I cannot understand how this can happen. I know a professing Christian father who will feed the other kids, and he will give money to help his own brothers and sisters but he now still will not give money support his own children.. or is he really by this act not supporting his wife that he rather hates? or was he basically still only a typical self centered person?

(Mat 7:15 KJV)  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The devil, demons and demon seduced professing Christian persons falsely, wrongfully take false delight in slandering, abusing, bashing others, even the Pentecostal Christians and show the sad truth that they do not have any  real love for others. Net posters like Walter, Polycarp, BWT, others included now. One Cyber bully was unaware that in my blogs I can note the posters IP address and other details.. and he used over 4 different names of both genders too, to post lies about me, to attack me, turned out he was an insecure,  bad, jealous relative of mine even.

One thing for sure I have observed that where there are sheep now there are also many wolves, for where there are real Christians there are also the  the pretenders amongst them now, today as well. The pretender, imposter, wolf in sheep clothing do now show up for all kind of reasons even to seduce the sheep. They masquerade as pastors,, assistant pastors, elders, youth ministers, Bible college students now as well.

But a close examination daily reveals these pretender, imposter, wolf in sheep clothing really have not changed, they are self centered, unloving, tend to lack compassion and consideration for any others.

AT TIMES even the Internet blogosphere lives up to its billing as the new frontier of FREEDOM OF SPEECH, religious and political discourse. But too often the blogs mainly still turn into an open sewer of rumors, lies, libels and adolescent sins. Bullies and Cyber Bullies like to tell the lie that slander, libel, bullying is an acceptable free right of expression of the internet  cause they are liars like the devil their father.. it never is..  Slandering, lying about, calling a specific person false names, personal attacks,  even on any public forum is still unacceptable now even if you are a Christian, a Plymouth Brethren one now too.  https://postedat.wordpress.com/2008/09/25/lies-slander-personal-defamation-on-the-net-be-warned/

(Mat 5:22 KJV)  But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

(Mat 18:6 KJV) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

(Mat 18:7 KJV) Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the  doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus  Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the  simple.” -Romans 16:17-18 KJV           https://postedat.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/dispensationalists-it-seems-to-compensate-for-their-often-rejections/

Ignorance of the Law is no excuse, not for any criminals now too

..

The physical, mental, verbal, medical abuse, or neglect of any person, minors or elders included,  is still a a criminal act  and more criminals would find themselves now next in Jail if more people did know the laws on the subject now as well.

Elder abuse is physical or psychological mistreatment, medical neglect, or financial exploitation of the elderly intentional or unintentional. Abuse usually becomes more frequent and severe over time. Any Neglect that results in physical or psychological harm is considered an  abuse.

I rightfully readily do demand the prosecution of all abusers guilty of abuses that I witness including   neglect, neglect  is the failure to provide food, medicine, medical care, personal care, or other necessities to an elderly persons or someone else too.

Sadly even the Professionals, medical workers, legal guardians even these days too often  found guilty of abusing  the elderly in reality. All emergency medical personnel are required  to resuscitate and stabilize patients until they are brought safely to a hospital as well. All medical personnel, doctors, nurses they must all  must notify their patient of theirs policies, plans, procedures beforehand  as long as the patient is in fully capacity or they have to next deal first with a court appointed guardian. No Doctor, medical personnel, hospital administrator  can make a decision to kill, murder patients still  or take any medical action without the patients prior informed approval, nor can hey neglect the good, essential medical care of the patient in their custody.

The law always presumes that an adult eighteen years of age or older is always still capable of handling his/her own affairs. And the only way someone can be a full legal guardian for a person who is eighteen years old or older is to be appointed by the  Queen’s court.  Kinship care providers are common, often composed of non-parent relatives who have become the primary or sole personal care givers for their elderly parents who may be next   unable to care for themselves.  These persons are often older relatives, and particularly sons or daughters. Any one appointing or naming a proxy care giver, guardian does not mean that same persons now  has given up any authority or choice.  As long as the person is able to make decisions, his or her consent is required for medical treatment, regardless of what the patient’s agent or written instructions may say. Proxy changes and additions  are permissible..  The services of a lawyer can be helpful, but a lawyer is not required.

A person physically unable to execute an advance directive may provide oral instructions that are reduced to writing by a doctor or another person, acting for the patient.  You still can not force any person to do what he does not want to do if it is an non critical medical issue . So as a matter of law, the medical providers cannot treat an individual against his or her wishes,  including any wishes contained in a directive with the sole exception of directives, proxy   that are contrary  to   the patient’s good, well being or the possible, certainty of their personal medical negative complications. As a matter of law, medical providers can treat an individual against his or her wishes, including wishes contained in a directive or contrary to the decision of the patient’s authorized proxy if their life, health is being endangered but they all can still be held  accountable now for anything they do as well here too. In case of  major disagreement among family members about the essential medical care of a family member in such situations the patients do also risk having medical decisions made contrary to their wishes,   by other persons they would not choose.

All non court appointed health care proxy care givers or non court appointed Guardianship  they can always still be readily verbally revoked by the patient. It is possible to terminate a guardianship and restore an incapacitated person’s rights if he or she regains capacity or has not lost their capacities..

Many legal, proxy or court appointed  guardian also, even found guilty of abusing the elderly. So often some one can makes sure that the guardian is acting appropriately on behalf of the incapacitated person. More than two-thirds of the abuse perpetrators are firstly family members, typically adult children, most often those serving as caregivers or guardians.  Federal and provincial governments have enacted legislation addressing domestic or institutional abuse of the elderly. Statutory definitions of elder abuse may include physical abuse, psychological or emotional abuse, sexual abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, abandonment, and physical, health related issues neglect.  And the courts may see elder abuse in a variety of contexts: criminal cases of assault, battery, rape or theft (which may carry enhanced penalties when committed against an older person); civil fraud or conversion matters; personal injury action; guardianship  abuse ; and possible criminal or civil cases regarding poor guardianship,  financial exploitation or inadequate institutional care Sadly as we all do know power can often go to one heads, as well as being vulnerable to temptations, abuses,  especially when persons are appointed as Proxy Kinship care givers, or court appointed Guardians.

The fact of life is that no one is above the law, not even a spouse,  relative, doctor, nurse, corporation, or anyone else for the matter. All persons world wide can still be prosecuted by either the government, governing  boards,  the courts and human rights commission for the abuse of another person, including elderly persons abuse,  their human rights abuses, even thefts from them as well. As simple as that now too.

Report card: Failed- Canada’s hospitals and Health Ministers

0family-doctor

And you did know that many people tend to get more sick around these holidays and often die as well.

Hospitals in Canada are mainly still here for the good care, safety, health of the patients. But this is not happening too often. For example- All the hospitals must exercise “the greatest control over all aspects of the work over all of the staff, doctors, nurses, technicians included . But undeniably in Quebec too too many nursing employees were, are working for private agencies outside the hospital, so a full accountability, control is clearly lacking. Even in Quebec now there still is a growing reliance by hospitals, old age homes, on using private nursing agencies. Bad nurses and bad doctors rarely face any negative personal consequences. The gravy trains have to be discontinued.

The Quebec government itself now for decades is soft on crime and is wrongfully reluctant to punish any of the bad guys cause they would likely have to start also with themselves. http://thenonconformer.wordpress.com/2011/10/03/positive-changes-need-to-start-at-the-top/

Which now reminds me can you please tell me specially the statistics per province, and city, as to the actual number of people who had died in 2010 due to a hospital acquired sickness? Specifically
1: Shit disease, C-difficile
2: Gastritis- food poisonings
3: VRE

Some things seem to never change, such as cold calloused, pretentious governmental Ministers, Health Ministers and their subordinates especially  included mostly all  who really do not care if the others live or die, as long as they alone survive  it seems still too. http://thenonconformer2.wordpress.com/2010/08/08/so-who-what-are-the-causes-of-our-inadequate-medicare-in-canada/

It seems our Prime ministers, Premiers, politicians care only about the medical care they get.

I could not help but notice and read often the great newspaper articles about heart care tips.. but what about all of those people where these same  tips are too late and the mostly pretentious health care is not there now for them.. how does any of this help them but who really cares?

Now face it to get get real health care you have to go to the emergency department of a big hospital and you first have to get the attention of the emergency department, the triage  care givers, that is if you can get past those preeminent security guards there, those too often pretentious triage nurses, medical interns who screen all the patients firstly.

But if you still are not dumb to recognize that now hiring 12 nurses or 6 medical interns who get the same pay as one doctor cannot, does not make up, compose even one qualified medical doctor firstly as well you tend to get what you deserve it seems…

Most Nurses have 2 years of training while the real doctors have at least a decade, so they the real doctors do have both a deeper and wider applicable   knowledge base too.

In Canada, many people, citizens  are needlessly dying because the hospital infection rates continued to rise  and all of the Health Ministers should be hung for this now immediately too, for murder, and I have been now saying that rightfully and openly for years now too.. do immediately deal with it. Report Card” Canada’s hospitals and Health Ministers are really  not doing enough to fight infections: while the Doctors take big pay cheques still home

The C. difficile nightmare goes on too

Despite political focus post-SARS, hospital infection rates  The Canadian Press –  TORONTO – Toronto’s SARS crisis and Quebec’s C. difficile nightmare drew political attention – and additional funding – to the problem of hospital-acquired infections.

“CP Despite political focus post-SARS, hospital infection rates continued to rise   TORONTO — Toronto’s SARS crisis and Quebec’s C. difficile nightmare drew political attention – and additional funding – to the problem of hospital-acquired infections. But despite that, rates of these infections continued to rise in the years immediately following the outbreaks, a new study reveals. Rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus – known as MRSA – more than doubled in the period from 1999 to 2005, said the study, which was based on a survey of Canadian hospitals with more 80 or more patient beds.  Clostridium difficile infections ( shit  disease ) also rose over that period and the number of hospitals reporting new cases of infection with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus climbed 77 per cent over the period. “Despite the two major communicable diseases – SARS and C. difficile – despite the emphasis by the Canadian Public Safety Institute on safer health care, despite all those things, our institutional approaches to infection control have changed remarkably little,” said Dr. Andrew Simor, head of microbiology at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Simor was not involved in the study. “And the outcomes, as a result, have gone in the wrong direction.” The survey was conducted in 2006 by researchers from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., and was a follow-up to an earlier survey conducted in 1999. Both were funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The results, which will be published in the December issue of the American Journal of Infection Control, showed that while hospitals reported an increase in staff devoted to infection control, increasing numbers of patients fell prey to hospital-acquired infections. There were 5.2 cases of MRSA per 1,000 hospital admissions in 2005, up from two per 1,000 in 1999. There was also an upward trend in C. difficile infections, and the number of hospitals reporting new cases of infection with VRE soared. “We have to roll up our sleeves,” said lead author Dr. Dick Zoutman, head of infection control at Kingston General Hospital. But while the numbers don’t look good, the director of infectious disease prevention and control with Ontario’s public health agency raised a couple of important caveats. Dr. Michael Gardam suggested hiring new infection control staff is only one step in improving a hospital’s infection control performance. Real improvement requires a commitment and effort from all those involved in patient care in an institution, he said – and that takes time. “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” Gardam said. “You need to have more infection control practitioners. And you need to bring about culture change. And just doing the resources side of things I don’t believe will actually get you there.” Gardam also suggested the numbers might have been worse but for the injection of resources that followed the 2003 SARS outbreak and the C. difficile crisis, which first came to light in 2004. “Probably we are having an impact, we are slowing the increase,” said Gardam, who was not involved in the study. “But we’re not actually achieving a real steady state and we’re not actually seeing a decrease.” That’s especially worrying given the current state of the economy, said both Zoutman and Simor, who noted that infection control efforts are an easy target when hospitals are trying to cut costs. “I’m concerned now that it’s more challenging economic times … that we don’t lose (sight of) this,” said Zoutman. “Because it’s a false economy. It’s penny wise, pound foolish.” “

More causes of health problems.  Melamine is sometimes illegally added to food products in order to increase the apparent protein content. Manufacturers knowingly and intentionally mix Melamine, which has some rather nasty ingredients, in our milk. To mix this product, they needed the use of formaldehyde, which is a very toxic and nasty ingredient in itself. Where has the integrity of our products gone? It seems like in the venture of profit many companies will trick and deceive customers into believing whatever they are ingesting is good for them. One important matter though is that, it is not only China who is doing such acts. Many companies everywhere are also putting toxic ingredients in our food and beverages without exactly telling us about it. http://augustafreepress.com/2008/10/13/haresh-daswani-watching-what-you-eat/

Medical tests

We trust  the medical tests being done, but how effective are they, and what they have a 50 percent error rate still, even the blood tests or xrays and they all do have to be often redone, at least 3 times or replaced with another more valid  medical test? or what you did not know this too?

Secondly most of the initial doctor  prescribed medical test for potentially serious  heart problems are really pretentious, cheap, ineffective, basically  all useless, and are mostly now used because the real valid medical tests such as the Echocardiogram   are mostly unavailable and too costly to be used immediatley too, for most people who reallly do need them.
“Some noninvasive Heart tests, and not all of them are fully effective even.. most tests still do require professional diagnostic experiences solely by quailfied cardiologists.
  • Resting electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)
  • Signal-averaged electrocardiogram (SAECG)
  • Chest X-ray
  • Holter monitor (ambulatory electrocardiogram)
  • Echocardiogram
  • Exercise stress test
  • Computed tomography (CT) scan
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA
The  echocardiogram is a test in which ultrasound is used to examine the heart. The equipment is far superior to that used by fishermen. In addition to providing single-dimension images, known as M-mode echo that allows accurate measurement of the heart chambers, the echocardiogram also offers far more sophisticated and advanced imaging. The first test that should be done for most people with potential heart problems often seems rather firstly reserved for the pregnant mothers rather still too.” http://www.heartsite.com/html/echocardiogram.html
Based on that above  facts alone a triage Medical  doctor said today to me that he would love to hire me to help out in his emergency clinic, since few people do now even have that essential knowledge of the causes of  medical heart problems grasp, and what about you?  Or are you another one of those people who will let most of the really sick and needy  heart patients die next needlessly too by doing nothing good about it too?

The parents Lisa Guerin and Jonathan Hope  of a 16-month-old girl who died  are guilty of failing to provide the necessities of life, a judge ruled The two were ordered to stay in custody until March 19, 2010 when a date will be set for sentencing. This also applies to all bad doctors and nurses, Health ministers now too  who fail to adequately look after any sick patient.

Here is some more abuse details  I rightfully do not accept at all not even quietly now too

“Bill Keller – founder of Liveprayer.com and the host of the Liveprayer TV program – has launched the Jonah Project to call the United States to repent, or face the judgment of God. In much the same way as the word delivered by the prophet Jonah 2900 years ago to the ancient city of Nineveh, Keller claims the Lord has called him to warn the nation to turn back to God and Biblical values, or experience His judgment for our sins and wickedness.   Keller sees a byproduct of the Jonah Product not only being a move back to God and Biblical values in this nation, but in other nations around the world. He hopes to unleash a spiritual revival that will bring millions of people around the globe to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.”  http://christiannewswire.com/news/570677207.html www.liveprayer.com/jonah.

” Steven W. Mosher, well-known China expert, calls for a boycott of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, saying that the games will only serve to legitimize a one-party dictatorship that has a deplorable human rights record.  “The Olympics is intended to be a celebration of the human spirit,” says Mosher. “But the spirit of the Chinese people, not to mention the spirit of the Tibetans and other minorities, is being crushed under the weight of an oppressive regime. We should no more celebrate the Olympics in China in 2008, than we should have celebrated the Olympics in Nazi-controlled Berlin in 1936.”  Mosher reminds the world that China’s rights record has not improved in recent years, rather, it has actually gotten worse. “China is one of the worst violators of human rights in the world,” he explains. “Given the Chinese Communist Party bragging rights over the games makes a mockery of their meaning.”  Mosher has formed the “Beijing Boycott Coalition” to oppose the Beijing Olympics. The coalition invites activists and groups of different backgrounds to join in protesting ongoing human rights violations in China by refusing to watch the games or patronize its sponsors.  All individuals and groups concerned about human rights, whether their issue is the suppression of journalism, the persecution of religious groups, or forced abortion, are welcome to join the coalition. The Beijing Boycott Coalition reaches across ideological boundaries to include all those who care deeply about human rights and the Chinese people, and want to send a message to the Beijing regime.”  For more information about the coalition, or to sign up for its e-mails, visit www.beijingboycottcoalition.com.

“Ramez Atallah, general secretary of the Bible Society of Egypt and program chair for the Lausanne III World Congress, has been chosen as the Bible Expositor for Intervarsity’s 22nd Student Missions Conference. ( A Montreal McGill University Graduate too.  Atallah was born in Egypt but spent his teen years in Canada. He became involved with InterVarsity while a student at McGill University and at one time served as Quebec director.    http://www.lausanne.org/younger-leaders-06/ramez-atallah.html    He received his seminary training at Gordon-Conwell Seminary in Massachusetts and is currently the Honorary President of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. ) The Bible studies at Urbana 09 will focus on the first four chapters of the New Testament book of John, which is “a powerful example of missionary communication,” said Urbana director Jim Tebbe according to the first Urbana 09 news release.  Atallah, who has a background with Intervarsity, “has a passion for inductive Bible study,” said Tebbe. “He has been practicing it and teaching it all his life.”  He is “an ideal expositor for Urbana 09,” the director concluded, and he will join a distinguished tradition of Bible teaching and mission at the conference.  istorically, the Urbana student missions conference has had a large impact on North American mission as “one of the longest-running institutions of North American evangelicalism,” with the first conference held in Toronto in 1946, according to the release. Urbana is one way in which Intervarsity has been able to express their purpose to “transform students and develop world changers,” according to the Urbana website.  Bible study from the Gospel of John is fitting, given the conference’s mission-oriented tradition. Regarding the scriptural focus, the Urbana director said, “John … is explicitly evangelistic and intends that those who come to believe through his witness will in turn become witnesses,” which is exactly what many participants did right after the previous triennial conference in 2006.  “Following an intense five-day Urbana 06 missions immersion, the 20,000 returned to their homes, their campuses, and their careers, stirred to respond to the Urbana theme, ‘Live a life worthy of the calling,'” reported Intervarsity news in 2007. Director Tebbe said, “We worked hard and gave you a five-day convention, but the real story is yours — what you do with the calling you have received.” Rick Warren is also among previous Urbana speakers who encouraged the group to focus on sharing their faith through mission. “It takes unselfish people to grow a church,” he said at the last meeting. “It is only when you start sharing with others that a church becomes a missional church. Churches often fail this goal,” he concluded. The impact of previous Urbana conferences continues on today, and will continue into the future, according to Intervarsity news. “The five days of Urbana 06 were like a pebble in the pond that sent out ripples which will be felt across the globe for months and years to come.” Atallah joins a distinguished list of Bible teachers who have spoken at Urbana, including A.W. Tozer (Urbana 54), Donald Grey Barnhouse (Urbana 57), John R.W. Stott (Urbana 64, 67, 70, 73, 76, and 79), and Ajith Fernando (Urbana 87, 90, 93, and 06). Previous expositors also included Ajith Fernando and John R.W. Stott.  Urbana 09 will be held at the America’s Center and the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo., December 27-31, 2009. ” http://christianpost.com/article/20080716/urbana-09-bible-expositor-chosen.htm

InterVarsity’s Urbana student missions conference is one of the longest-running institutions of North American evangelicalism. The first conference was held in Toronto in 1946, right after World War II broadened the horizons of a new generation of North Americans. For most of the next six decades the triennial conference was held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2006 the conference drew more than 20,000 people to its new location in St. Louis, Missouri.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an interdenominational ministry to university students in the United States with over 31,000 students involved on 585 campuses nationwide. InterVarsity is a founding member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, advancing Christian student work in 150 countries.

War Blurs View of Christianity

Selling Bibles in Egypt not only serves Christians but also helps build understanding between Muslims and Christians, says Mr Ramez Atallah, general secretary of the Bible Society of Egypt.

Mr Atallah and his wife Rebecca were in New Zealand in March at the invitation of the Bible Society in New Zealand. Their trip, aimed at informing New Zealand churches and Christians about their ministry in Egypt, was made as the United States-led army began its attack in Iraq.

The couple were very concerned about the polarisation of Muslims and Christians which was occurring as a result of the war. “Muslims misperceive this war as the Western Christian world attacking the Muslim way of life,” he said. “It is making it more difficult and more uncomfortable for Christians and Westerners in all Arab countries.”

Mr Atallah described Egypt as a moderate Arab country, in which Christians, though only about 10 percent of the population, were protected and treated fairly by the government. Christian children were obliged by the government to study the Christian religion, and he felt that the moral society there was generally good for Christians.

“Strict censorship and morality laws meant that Christianity was more protected than in a Western, liberal, pluralistic society such as Canada,” he said. Mr Atallah was born in Egypt but his family moved to Canada as a result of the Nasser government’s socialisation policies in the 1960s. Mr Atallah returned to Egypt with his wife and two young children in 1980.

The Bible Society of Egypt is permitted to sell and advertise their products, as long as it doesn’t proselytise or specifically target Muslims. Hence the society has developed very successful methods of raising awareness of the bible as the ‘source text’ for Christians.

It has sold from shops, stalls at markets, book fairs, and festivals. It has placed advertisements in newspapers and on large billboards by busy highways. It has produced and marketed a range of products including audio-cassettes, CDs and videos. These products include translations of Biblical text into local colloquial languages, making them accessible to a wider range of people, including the illiterate.

“The bible has taken a role not only in serving the Christians but also in symbolising Christianity. It has helped Christians have a higher profile.” Mr Atallah says that the prominent positioning of the bible in this way has meant that many Muslims have chosen to buy bibles, to better understand Christianity.

“Muslims can come and buy (locally produced bible products) and this helps correct distorted views of Christianity (eg from the media) and helps to build bridges between Muslims and Christians,” says Mr Atallah. “They come to us out of curiosity, and ask, ‘is it as bad as we hear?'”

Many Muslims associate Western Christianity with what they see as promiscuity and immorality portrayed on television sitcoms, and fear that the American-led invasion of Iraq will undermine the morality of the Islamic way of life, not only in Iraq but elsewhere too.

Since their arrival in Egypt, the Atallahs have themselves been shining examples of Christian principles. While Ramez has worked selling bibles, a role which also helps unite the different Christian denominations in Egypt, Rebecca has become very involved with helping the people who live and work amongst garbage in the city.  She has become a key worker at the St Simon Coptic Orthodox (Christian) Church in the Mokattam Garbage Village, teaching Christianity in school, organising camps and outings for the children, and supporting disadvantaged adults. “As we’ve learned to love each other, these people have become like my second family, we all need each other!” says Rebecca.  For this reason and others, the couple say they will remain steadfast in their sense of mission in Egypt, no matter what effect the war has there. http://www.presbyterian.org.nz/539.0.html
