Repentance is in order

 

” Charisma magazine, the international American mouthpiece for the contemporary Pentecostal movement, is struggling with the image of Christian leaders in the marketplace these days.

There’s been a little bit too much bad publicity lately. ‘Miracle-working’ evangelists seem to have the same hang-ups with adultery as the sinners who are going to hell. Veteran Charisma contributor J. Lee Grady, whose column “Fire In My Bones” is a regular feature, addressed the problem provacatively on August 4, 2010, with an essay entitled: “SAY GOODBYE TO THE UNTOUCHABLE PREACHERS”.  Grady goes on to bemoan the fact that leading Pentecostal ministers are seduced by money and worldly lifestyles. This wasn’t even news 20 years ago, when the world saw Jim Bakker of PTL fame weeping as he was dragged off into a patrol car. He eventually served serious jail time.Many readers posting comments on Grady’s article make the same observation, as well as noting that the essay remarkably doesn’t ‘name names’. People suspect there might be an issue of ‘conflict of interest’ involved, since almost all of the big names in God’s TV world place huge ads regularly in Charisma magazine.

As long as we are alive and sentient, each of us still has time to repent, and to make reparation for our own sins and those of others. See how incredibly often St. Paul in his voluminous letters repeatedly warned Christians against committing sin. He would not have felt compelled to do so, if their sins could not exclude them from heaven. He would not have bothered. And he would have been much more popular, rather than being largely abandoned at the end of his life.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1st John 1:8

  1. Why some people still do miss the kingdom of heaven. My father was a soldier who was proud of all other soldiers. Especially the Russian ones. Many orthodox persons boast of their historical heritage but so what? For a half a century I too often clearly notice that many of the Orthodox persons I know they do not practice what their church preaches still. My very religious Orthodox father used to often visit the grave site of many of his deceased friends to pray for them but my father was never known to be charitable or kind to anyone , not even to himself. He used to justify it by saying to me why should I do something good to someone else when they never did anything good to me. Many orthodox persons do honor and venerate St. John to a extreme such as my father also had often did too but I had often wondered why when my father was never willing to make the needed personal changes in his own life, to bring fruit worthy of repentances.. Maybe that was why they admired St John so much cause he did make the necessary changes. All People who are willfully disobedient to God, falsely still insist on doing their own thing and not doing it God’s way will next miss the boat, and they will not enter into heaven.. for God does not bless disobediences. Cain was a good example of this.

  2. The devil has misled many christian persons, churches from the truth just as he misled Adam and Eve..

    Complacency, settling in and acceptance of the status quos, walking in the past, TURNING BACK TO TRUSTING IN OTHERS AND FALSELY TRUSTING IN THE WORK OF OUR OWN HANDS, SEDUCED UNDER LEGALISTIC BONDAGES, dangerous deadly diseases that affects many Christians still too.

    I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from Me, in that thou hast wholly committed whoredom, O Ephraim, Israel is defiled. Israel and Ephraim shall go to ruin by their iniquity; Judah shall also go to ruin with them. Ephraim shall become a solitude in the day of reproof. And I am as a moth to Ephraim, and as a boring-worm to the house of Judah. And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, and Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; and this one could not heal you (Hosea 5:3, 5, 9, 12, 13).

    Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower and to the glory of his adornment, which are upon the head of the valley of the fat ones that are troubled with wine (Isa. 28:1).

    (Hosea 5:9 KJV) Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

    (Hosea 5:11 KJV) Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.
    Ephraim was the youngest son of Joseph. Hebrew meaning of Ephraim is: ‘God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction’. Great men and leaders came out of the tribe of Ephraim. Joshua, Gideon and prophet Samuel came from that tribe. That was the most dominant tribe in Israel. They were located in the most fertile and ideal location in Israel. A spiritually strategic location that contains Shechem and Shiloh, the two centers of worship of Jehovah in Israel. They are agile and possess unrivalled military skills. Unfortunately this tribe back-slided into fear, and lost all those heritage they had with God. We must remember that there is no crown without a cross. No winner without a battle; and no victor without a warfare. Ephraimites preach or listen to messages but are not convicted nor converted by the power of repentance. They continue to wallow in pet sins and refuse to change their ways. Many spiritually unfruitful lives today in the false Christian churches are a result of products of a bad foundation, a desire for an easy, care-free ,rather careless religion.

    (2 Tim 1:7 KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    (2 Tim 1:8 KJV) Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

    C. We are in a conflict today with:
    1. Wishy washy worthless doctrine
    * people trying to get rich instead of getting right
    * name it and clam it
    * these modern TV preachers don’t preach what Christ preached

    – not a popular message today
    – modern churches don’t like to preach
    repentance or holy living

    * times and people may change, but God does not.

    II. Ephraim Was a Chosen People

    A. Ephraim had a special heritage
    1. descendents of Joseph
    2. Joshua is from this tribe
    3. The grave of Abraham is located there
    -reminder of Gods goodness

    4. This is where the tabernacle was set up
    * in Shiloh
    * sacrifices done here
    * Ark abode here.

    B. You and I have a Special Heritage
    1. We are sons and daughters of God
    *I Jn 3:1-2

    2. It is a privilege and honor to be a child to the king
    *never take for granted your position
    *never forget what great price was paid for you

    III. Ephraim’s Cowardly Decision

    A. They turned back in the day of battle.

    B. This is the generation that doesn’t know about Dedication

    3. Not dedicated to Christ
    “if any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”

    4. Parents teaching children that Church is only if there is nothing better to do.

    *ball games come first
    *camping come first
    *NFL football come first
    *Super bowl is more important then worship of most high God

    5. I know I’m old fashioned, but when I was a child, no one mowed their yard on Sunday. It was a day devoted to God. Even my father, who was unsaved, refused to mow on Sunday.

    C Christians are turning back

    1. not fighting anymore
    *soldiers who run away
    *soldiers who want to be friends with the enemy

    2. With all the excitement about being modern the Church has forgotten the message of our Lord.

    3. Turning our backs on the old path

    D. Brother and Sister we are in a battle today!!!
    1. Put on the “whole” armor of God
    2. Time to fight

    a forgotten battle- the battle for souls

    1. God has laid on us ALL the responsibility of soul winning
    2. We must all take part in sharing our faith
    3. So many shun this job
    -preachers job
    -ill just sit on the stool of do nothing
    -arm chair generals

    F. The sad truth about Ephraim is that they were armed “being armed and carrying bows”

    1. This means they knew how to fight
    2. They had tools and equipment and experience
    3. They simply refused to use what God gave them!
    * Leadership in church gets lazy
    * Im to important to go fight
    * In God’s army the leaders always go out and battle

    4. The Church is in desperate need of Preachers to proclaim “Thus Saith The Lord”

    5. If the preacher preaches against sin he is called “legalistic”
    These modern preachers won’t say it but I will
    -Gambling is ALWAYS wrong!
    -Drinking is ALWAYS wrong! show me the good of it. -Movies Christians watch are so vile!

    -Tv shows are so immoral, you would never watch them with Jesus
    -CD’s in your vehicle that you justify, but in your heart you know what Jesus thinks of them.

    H. When is the last time your heart was broken before God
    1. You wept tears because of sin
    2. You wept tears for a lost member of your family

    When the Church needs help and you say “it’s someone else’s job, you are turning your back in the day of battle

    When you say I’ve done that for years, let someone else do it, you are turning your back in the day of battle

    You refuse to go on Church Visitation because you are __insert excuse__ turning your back in the day of battle

    A. Lost the tabernacle
    1. his presence no longer there

    B. Jesus Warned the Church

    “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen and repent and do the first works or else I will come quickly and will remove thy candlestick out of his place except thou repent” Rev 2:15

    Many people still do fall into the pit, into error cause they wrongfully think because God does not punish all sins immediately, he God now does overlooks most of them. The Bible clearly teaches that some personal sins are dealt with shortly and some are fully dealt with after one’s death. The reality is that there are serious negative personal consequences for unrepentant sins, sooner or later for God is not mocked for what a person sows he will eventually reap as well.

  4. The true basic Christian Life

    (Gen 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    God next saw that there was nothing good in mankind that he had created

    (Gen 6:5 KJV) And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

    (1 Pet 1:24 KJV) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

    (Rom 3:23 KJV) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    We all each one of us thus must be born again from above,

    (John 3:6 KJV) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

    (John 6:53 KJV) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

    Both the devil and the sinful flesh tends to dominate all our activities

    (1 Pet 5:8 KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

    (1 Cor 9:27 KJV) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

    (1 Cor 6:13 KJV) Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

    (1 Cor 6:9 KJV) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?     We are to by faith to die to our sinful flesh and rather let Christ live in us

    A personal life in the Holy Spirit next is what it is all thus also about for each one of us

    (Eph 5:30 KJV) For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

    (Col 2:13 KJV) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

    (1 Pet 3:18 KJV) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

    (Jude 1:23 KJV) And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

    (Rev 12:10 KJV) And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

    It is amazing to me how the basic Christians issues are so commonly discussed and yet too often really personally unknown still including the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

    (1 Cor 2:9 KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

    (1 Cor 14:26 KJV) How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

    (1 Cor 14:39 KJV) Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

    Don’t firstly even be under the false illusion that Satan no longer opposes or does not try to discredit today any Christian truth.. he will do so instantly, and even use one of his followers to do it too and they will quote even the Bible to do so too. Check first everything with the word of God, the Bible for yourself. Don’t accept the too often false words of mere men and women rather.

    (Prov 8:13 KJV) The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate

    (Zep 2:10 KJV) This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.

    (1 Tim 3:6 KJV) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

    (1 John 2:16 KJV) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

    (Prov 29:23 KJV) A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

    (1 Cor 10:21 KJV) Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

    (Jer 9:2 KJV) Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. 3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD. 4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. 5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. 6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

    (Isa 28:7 KJV) But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

    (Jer 14:14 KJV) Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart

    (Jer 13:17 KJV) But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.

    (Micah 7:2 KJV) The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. 3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. 4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. 5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. 6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. 7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

    (Hosea 12:7 KJV) He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

    I want you also to remember always that some persons do still have a false, visible or hidden agenda, for hopeful personal economic gains, power, and even THE FALSE oppression of others and that is why they do misinterpret the Bible to their now falls inclinations including the books of Paul, Revelation and Joel, the bad elders, pastors included. It should be very obvious that many Bible verses do warn, state the reality of a personal negative consequences here one earth next for those who do not follow fully after God, for those who do not care about the good welfare of others, do not help the poor and needy persons, to all those persons who counsel divorce as well, twist the word of God too…. and yes there are real negative personal consequences here on earth as well as in heaven. The issue of gifts often does sirs up controversy, the kind that Satan is behind it.. he wants it all to be still a secret too. (Rom 14:1 KJV) Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

    (Isa 29:13 KJV) Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

    2 Pet 1:19 – 21, 2:1 – 3, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying Jesus that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.”

    (Gal 5:22 KJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

    (Psa 36:11 KJV) Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

    (2 Cor 4:7 KJV) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
